To Follow Her Heart by Rebecca DeMarino
Summary:
It is 1664 and Patience Terry is devastated to learn that Captain Jeremy Horton’s ship has been shipwrecked off the coast of Barbados. There were no survivors. She had hoped that Jeremy would someday give up the sea and settle down with her in Southold, Long Island.
Unaware his memorial service is being planned, Jeremy sails aboard a British warship with secret orders to attack New Amsterdam and claim it for the British Crown. When he makes his surprise return to Southold—and to an overjoyed Patience—it’s not quite the happily-ever-after his beloved had hoped for.
With a finely tuned sense for authentic historical characters and settings, Rebecca DeMarino plunges you into a world of tall ships, daring journeys, and yearning hearts.
My thoughts:
I wasn't aware that this book was in a series that I think needed to be read in order. So I thought this book was cute in the beginning when he was missing and she still thought he was alive when everyone said he was dead. After that I wasn't really a fan. Most of the book was about them apart and there were only short days that they were kinda together but surrounded by family and friends. This is book 3 in the series so I probably missed a lot of the romance but I wasn't really hooked. There was just so much indecision on both sides. Do they love each other to stay together but be in separate places at the same time? Is Patience Patient enough to wait for what seemed like years for Jeremy? Just not my type of romance. The writing was good and well edited. But I would only give this a 3 out of 5. It was a clean romance. I recommend you read the other books first to understand this one.
I received this book for free from Revell in return for an honest review.
